Alexandra Bowers is an artist based in Phoenix, AZ inspired by the natural surrounding environment. She utilizes data collected while exploring to produce wood burned and mixed media art pieces of wildlife she finds along the way.
An exploration in pyrography
Alexandra Bowers has practiced the art of pyrography, the process of free-handed drawing into wood with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object, since 2010. Her subjects survive in an extremely harsh climate while simultaneously adapting to human encroachment.
Much like a photograph, her subjects are captured in a specific state of life, through pyrography, a poetic and tragic parallel to the environment they are forced to adapt to in order to survive.
